Wellness Dry Dog Food and Charlee Bear Dog Treats Announce Recalls.
I give my dogs Wellness WellBars (lamb & apple) for a treat has any heard if these have been recalled?
It could be the food, although I haven’t heard any complaints with Wellness lately. Have your dogs recently eaten any new treats…particularly any treats produced in China? A treat could just as easily be the culprit as the food. If you truly do think it’s the food save the food and the bag and talk to your vet about having a sample sent to a lab to be tested.
Overall, Wellness is a high-quality brand of cat food that offers a wide variety of product choices. In addition to traditional kibbles, this brand offers an assortment of grain-free, air-dried, and baked dog foods. There are also dozens of wet food entrees and meal complements to choose from. What truly sets Wellness apart from the competition, however, is their commitment to a holistic nutritional philosophy – they design their formulas in a way that provides your cat with all of the healthy nutrients he needs and nothing he doesn’t. Wellness doesn’t use any corn, wheat, or soy fillers in any of their recipes and they do not make use of any artificial additives like colors, flavors, and preservatives. You can count on Wellness to deliver exceptional quality, no matter which product you choose.

When people and animals have a thyroid hormone deficiency, that’s treated with doses of the hormone. When you don’t have a deficiency, extra thyroid hormone can make you sick, which is why beef-based dog foods from popular brands Blue Buffalo and Wellness have been recalled. The Wellness company offers a wide variety of dry and wet dog food products as well as an assortment of snacks and treats. When it comes to their products, Wellness has four main product lines – Complete Health, CORE, Simple, and Trufood. The Complete Health line of products features both dry food and wet food products designed for dogs in all life stages and of all breed sizes. There are both original and grain-free recipes in this product line including healthy weight formulas. The CORE line of products is entirely grain-free with formulas designed around the idea that dogs thrive best on a diet that is comprised primarily of meat. The Simple line of products features limited ingredient diets for dogs that suffer from food allergies and sensitivities. The Trufood line of products features oven-baked blends of quality protein and digestible carbohydrate.Based on the recommendation of the reference lab’s consulting veterinarian, the feeding of these dog foods was discontinued. After the dogs stopped eating these products for a few weeks, their clinical signs disappeared and thyroid hormone levels returned to normal. An FDA lab tested unopened cans of BLUE Wilderness® Rocky Mountain Recipe TM Red Meat Dinner Wet Food for Adult Dogs and Wellness 95% Beef Topper for Dogs and confirmed that they contained active thyroid hormone. The source of thyroid hormones is likely from the use of gullets from which the thyroid glands were not completely removed before adding to pet food or treats. My 12 year old Dobie had a intestinal infection. The vet treated the infection, but my dog had lost her appetite and has lost weight. So to appease my dog, I bought some Wellness 95% Chicken. I liked the simple ingredients – Chicken!! She loves it, gobbles it up. I mix it with her dry kibble Orijen food. Well, I also gave a couple tablespoons of it mixed with their dry to my three pugs. And they love it. As a topper, it is a quality can of meat for dogs. I recommend it highly.
