NOTE: Ideal Ruff Weather Dog Doors can be installed in a door or through a wall with the purchase of an optional wall tunnel kit.
"I am a contractor and will occasionally be asked to install a doggie door for a customer. I always suggest that they purchase an Ideal "Ruff-Weather" doggie door. (The price here on Amazon is the lowest I have found) I have even installed this product at my own home. This doggie door set is a heavy-duty quality product. It comes with a nice template which is easy to use. I must say however, that when you use the template, sometimes the round screw holes (which have been pre-punched) are sometimes off from the ink circle. If they are off, do not use the pre-punched holes. Rather, put tape on the back of each to hold them in place and use the ink printed holes as your guides.
Our selection of extreme hot and cold climate pet doors includes dual flap Ruff Weather doors, made by Ideal Pet Products, double Endura flap pet doors, winner of the Dog Fancy Editor's Choice Award and our totally weatherproof POWER PET, Fully Automatic, Air-Tight pet doors. All choices may be installed in doors, walls or sliding glass patio doors. Dual flap doors work by creating an air lock between the flaps that serves as an excellent insulator against drafts. Additionally, the quality manufacturing of the ideal and especially the Endura flap doors is unsurpassed. For the absolute best insulated door that will save energy and remain air tight even in hurricane force wind, we recommend the Power Pet model because its bulletproof polycarbonate door panel is the only one that is hermetically sealed to achieve zero drafts even in the most severe storms.

I am a 65 year old woman that installed your Ruff Weather Medium Pet Door for my dogs Abbey and Lillie after watching your installation video. I must comment on not only the ease of the installation but the amazing quality of the product as well. There is NO DRAFT around the flaps. It's really nice to be happy about buying something that does all it says it does...Thanks!I just installed my Medium Ruff Weather Dog door (7¼" X 13") and I want to thank you for the great videos in YouTube that helped me to put it in without any trouble.(Published on 5/12/2014)
I have had my Ruff Weather dog door installed for about a year now. I have found that it works well in my Northwest Climate. It is well engineered to stop cold drafts from blowing into the house. I decided to install a wall mounted dog door instead of the one I had installed years ago into our sliding door, which i found was very drafty and cold. I have two dogs, one of which is a 35 lb. Field bread Cocker. We choose the the Medium size "Double Flap" door, with the the "Wall Kit". I decided to install the door myself. I'm handy but not a carpenter. This some of what I found and I hope it will help you on your intalation. Read the directions a couple of times. Cut wall board with knife, not Sawsall, inorder to see if there is anything in the way of your project! One key eliment of a good job is getting the outside and inside openings lined up, take your time. Have a tube of Silicon on hand when you start, and seal around the outside well. Seal completely, where the the" wall kit" (box) joins the inside and outside portions. Hope this is some help?
