Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Officials Expand Recall Of Products ..
A -based pet food-maker is voluntarily recalling some of its dog food over concerns that it might contain a sedative used to euthanize animals. Several dogs in Washington state became sick on New Year's Eve after eating the food, and one died, Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Co. said.I have a dog and a cat, and after searching and comparing- we found Evangers. Being from Deerfield, Il we were loved it was locally sourced out of Wheeling and family-owned. We use the Meat Lover's Melody dry cat food and the Chicken and Brown Rice dry dog food. We also feed them BOTH the game meat lines (ie: 100% buffalo, salmon, pheasant etc). Our dog goes INSANE for the Chicken Drummetts from the Hand-Packed line. They are basically just chicken wings, and there are even videos of people trying it on their facebook! So happy to have finally found our forever food brand! My dog loved this food (Evanger's pheasant dog/cat food) and so did I until: I fed my dog half a can one day. The next day I gave her the other half only to find a penny sized rusted steel slug on the bottom of the can! I know it was steel because I rinsed it off and could pick it up with a magnet! I am sure there were other bits and flakes of steel in that food when I looked at it and picked it apart! DO NOT feed your pet any of this food! I promptly emailed the company and of course got NO response at all. Then I filed a complaint with the FDA about this company and this incident. I would NOT recommend ANY type of food from this company at all... ever!An Illinois-based dog food company has expanded its recall due to concerns of possible contamination by a drug that is used for euthanasia. Evanger’s Dog & Cat Food Company had first issued a recall of its 12-ounce cans of Hunk of Beef Au Jus last month, after five dogs fell ill and one died.
