Birmingham, AL - Border Collie/Retriever (Unknown Type) Mix. Meet Shilo a Dog for Adoption.
6/27/16 - Viola, now Sandy, must be the happiest girl in New Orleans! This adorable family waited patiently for the perfect dog for their family and Sandy definitely is the one. The children did not know that their stop in Birmingham meant meeting a dog and when Sandy saw them, she could not get enough of them, and the girls were thrilled. After meeting sweet Sandy, their neighbors decided to adopt her brother, Lake. Now the litter mates are neighbors. Could their story be any sweeter?
6/27/16 - Lake and Viola came in together after having been picked up as strays. They thoroughly enjoyed each other but were to be adopted separately. Soon Viola (now named Sandy)left for New Orleans, and her neighbors across the street fell in love with her. When they found out she had a brother who was virtually identical, they immediately put in their application and planned a trip to Birmingham. It was an immediate bond with all at the meet, and now both dogs are together once again! What a happy reunion and we wish both families many fun play dates.
Turkey Dogs Q & A - Adopt a Golden Birmingham: Turkey Dogs Rescue
TSA dogs up for adoption - WBRC FOX6 News - Birmingham, AL
On August 22, 2015 Adopt A Golden Birmingham (AGB) welcomed our first group of GoldenRetrievers from Turkey (6 dogs) making AGB the second Golden Retriever rescue group tobecome involved with rescuing Golden Retrievers from Turkey. We then rescued our secondgroup of "Turkey Dogs" in February of 2016 (10 dogs). n August of 2016, we rescued another 12, four males and eight females. This group of dogs will bring the total number of dogs saved fromTurkey by AGB to 28.Our sister rescue, Adopt A Golden Atlanta, has been spear heading this amazing rescue and two other rescue efforts earlier this year. To date, AGA has taken in 54 Turkey Dogs. This rescue will bring in 20 dogs, of which AGB has proudly committed to 6. To reflect the State of Alabama and the City of Birmingham we have chosen the names Camellia, Magic, Baron, Steel, Cotten and Peaches for them. To our knowledge, we are the first rescue in the State of Alabama to conduct an international rescue operation.Perhaps the most exciting thing to happen to AGB will be unfolding August 22nd and as members of our core team, I wanted you to be the first to know that “paws will be in the air” and our mission is underway! In a few weeks, at Hartsfield International Airport, a 747-800 all-cargo aircraft will land. Disembarking will be 20 purebred Golden Retrievers, rescued from over crowded shelters and off the streets of Istanbul, Turkey. As they are unloaded from their crates and their paws touch U.S. ground for the first time, Adopt a Golden Birmingham will be there to welcome them to America. Although we are calling them the “Turkey Dogs,” their names will reflect their new American lives.Adopt a Golden Birmingham took all measures to ensure the safety of the dogs in their flight, engaging several partners to get the Turkey Golden Retrievers safely to America. Partners for the dogs' transport to Atlanta include Adopt a Golden Atlanta which has brought in several Golden Retrievers from Turkey in the last two months; the municipality of Istanbul and participating shelters; Cargolux Airlines and InXpress USA.
